The Chinese government is concerned with the revival of Tibetan-style
Buddhism in Mongolia after seventy years of suppression under communism.
The rebirth of Buddhism is still in its early stage, but it worries Beijing
because the Mongolian Buddhists look to the Dalai Lama, the exiled leader
of Tibetan Buddhists, as their leader. China has been waging a campaign
against the Dalai Lama and Tibetan desires for independence.
